Practical Experience
Admitted as a solicitor in 1972 and in continuous practice since then in the areas of conveyancing, family law and general litigation. Since 1986, has practised as a consultant to a suburban firm in Sydney. Specialises in family law, de facto relationships law and deceased estate litigation. Qualified mediator with a Master of Dispute Resolution from UTS and a member of the Family Law Specialist Accreditation Committee.

Lecturer with The College of Law since 2001. Has taught in all areas of the College curriculum, in both the online teaching and onsite components. Has taught the Family Law elective since 2001 and in 2007 was involved in a complete rewrite of the Family Law materials used by the College.

A marathon and ultra marathon runner, Ray has completed over 100 marathons and in 2006 ran a marathon in under 3 hours that placed him in the top 10 in the world for his age that year. Has also completed for the second year in a row a 175k ultra marathon on bush trails north of Sydney in just under 35 hours.
