The College of Law expands Applied Law Program with new Commercial Litigation lecturer
The College of Law announces that Renee Stevens will commence as co-lecturer in the Masters of Applied Law (Commercial Litigation) Program this Semester, bringing with her a wealth of experience.
Ms Stevens believes that commercial litigation is a challenging and constantly developing area of law and hopes that the course will give students the self-assurance and ability to be more effective commercial litigators.
“This Program is particularly relevant to Australian practitioners as it focuses on providing practical skills and knowledge that can be used on a daily basis,” Ms Stevens said.
“The use of technology is becoming more prevalent in commercial litigation and Court policies are constantly evolving to accommodate electronic document management and discovery, so this will continue to change the way that proceedings are ultimately conducted,” Ms Stevens added.
Ann-Maree David, Chief Executive Officer, The College of Law, Queensland, supports this view, adding that the Program develops technical and practical proficiency through innovative problem-based learning to provide crucial knowledge and skills for practitioners in an area of practice that has recently undergone significant change.
“The course is ideal for those looking to move into Commercial Litigation or for those already working in the area. We are also pleased to now be able to offer the course in Queensland - an exciting addition to The College’s growing portfolio,” she said.
Ms Stevens said that The College of Law was the natural choice to pursue her long-term interest in education and training, given her legal background and memories of her time as a student at The College.
“My time at The College thus far has been extremely rewarding - the courses offered are so relevant and practical that it is difficult to approach teaching them without enthusiasm,” she said.
The Master of Applied Law (Commercial Litigation) has been offered in New South Wales since August last year, and is now offered in Queensland.
Semester 1 of the Masters of Applied Law (Commercial Litigation) Program commences 8 March 2010.
