The College of Law ready to assist law graduates in WA

The College of Law is committed to assisting the Western Australian legal profession ensure that all law graduates will have the practical legal training they require for admission as legal practitioners.

Speaking after the announcement by the Legal Practice Board that it will no longer offer the Articles Training Program course after 2010, Mr Neville Carter the Managing Director of The College of Law said: “The College of Law has been committed to providing a practical legal training course in Western Australia since it opened a Western Australian College in 2006.

“Since then the College has made a substantial investment in developing and conducting a practical legal training program specifically for West Australian practice, with WA content taught by a team of WA practitioners lead by local CEO and Program Director Michael Cole. The resources the College has developed, such as the Western Australian Practice Papers, are invaluable and now available widely to the Western Australian legal profession.”

With at least seven start dates for each full time and part time course there are numerous opportunities for graduates to take up the College’s program.  The combination of online and face to face components means that graduates in rural and remote areas will also have the same opportunities to complete their admission requirements.

“Ms Alison Gaines, Chair, College of Law Western Australia, added that “the College will continue to work with the profession to deliver a Practical Legal Training Program focused on meeting the current and emerging needs of the profession in Western Australia.”
