The College of Law’s Centre for Best Practice announces new training courses for LAW 9000

Following the issue of the revised LAW 9000-2010 framework by SAI Global, the Centre has revised and restructured the support courses which it offers to assist practices to understand and implement LAW 9000.

During 2010 a working party which included the Centre’s Director Greg Dwyer, as well as representatives from SAI Global, QL Inc and LAW 9000 certified practices reviewed both the LAW 9000 Framework, as well as SAI’s annotated guidebook Understanding LAW 9000.

The working party looked at feedback from auditors and certified practices over the first 5 years of LAW 9000. While the fundamental structure of the framework – which is based on the international ISO 9001 quality management requirements – is the same, a number of significant changes have been made. The guidance notes in Understanding LAW 9000 were substantially rewritten.

The Centre is now offering three new courses:

  • Understanding LAW 9000 – a half day overview and introduction
  • Implementing LAW 9000 – a one day course which builds on the half-day and explains how to implement the Framework
  • Understanding and Implementing LAW 9000 – a 1.5 day course which combines both elements

As well, the Centre will continue to offer the LAW 9000 Internal Audit course

What previous course participants said:

"Presenter very lively and knowledgeable - made the content very easy to take in and understand."
"Can’t improve, excellent course, well presented and thoroughly enjoyable."
"The best thing about the course was the identification of gaps between our current procedures/systems and desirable procedures/systems."
