Family Violence and Women's Experiences of the Family Law System

This seminar looks at womens’ experiences of the family law system when they have been affected by domestic violence and family violence and this is because of the work of the presenters at the Rockdale Community Health Centre which is the domestic violence specialist team who work exclusively with women and children affected by what is called coercive controlling violence.

Priscilla McCorriston and Libby Watson work at the St George Domestic Violence Service based in southern Sydney and are both social workers. In addition to their work at the centre in Rockdale, Priscilla McCorriston is also a counsellor in private practice where she works primarily with people affected by trauma. Libby is also a registered family dispute resolution practitioner but most of her work focuses on FDR training or training other professionals.
