Local Court Sentencing - An Update

This informative and up-to-date presentation will focus on the practical issues involved in sentencing in the Local Court. The seminar will cover:

Sentencing options available to Magistrates, including an examination of the new intensive correction orders regime and how they relate to each other;
How to prepare and conduct an effective sentencing hearing;
How defence lawyers can more effectively use the sentencing options available;
Use of expert reports in sentencing, including pre-sentence reports and assessment reports for home detention and intensive correction orders.

Vaughan Roles was admitted to practice in October 1999. Since this time, he has worked in predominantly mixed practices practicing primarily in the areas of Criminal and Family law. He is currently working exclusively in the area of criminal law at Legal Aid NSW.
